Gwaelod-y-Garth Inn

This stone-built hillside cottage enjoys a wonderful position on the thickly wooded flank of Garth Hill, high above Taffs Well, with great walking and stunning views such as the fairytale Victorian sham castle of Castell Coch across the vale. At the bar guest ales from as far afield as Essex and Derbyshire rub shoulders with local brews, including some from their own microbrewery Violet Cottage, along with a farm cider from Pontypridd. A pleasing selection of home-cooked pub food produces dishes of grilled sea bass fillets on braised fennel, and Welsh Black steak and ale pie with puff pastry.
