2 High Street, GREAT LIMBER, DN37 8JL
This Grade II listed inn, set in the heart of the Brocklesby Estate, has been welcoming locals and travellers alike for nearly 240 years. Today, there are 10 boutique-style bedrooms, and the smart, modern restaurant, which has been awarded two AA Rosettes, offers modern British menus using fine produce, some of it from the estate's organic kitchen garden. A meal might kick off with roast Gressingham duck breast, crispy leg croquettes, cherries and almonds; followed by chicken, ham and leek pie with mustard cream and new potatoes from the estate. Lemon tart with marmalade ice cream to finish, or local cheeses with plum bread. The bar is a delightful place to enjoy a pint of Tom Wood's Best Bitter or one of the 12 glasses served by the glass. The decor has country-style chic - stacked logs, painted wood panelling, long wooden tables, bentwood chairs and cosy library corners. Here you can also choose lunchtime sandwiches or maybe just a home-made beefburger with Stilton rarebit and fries.
