The village pub was extended a few years ago to incorporate the old post office here in fertile Ryedale, between the Howardian Hills and the North Yorkshire Moors near the bustling market town of Malton. Cue the lively taproom, where beers from the Marston's list are popular with locals and visitors alike, and the cosy dining room, separated by a roaring log fire warming both rooms on a winter's evening. Chef-proprietor Adam Myers conjures up some enticing meals; roasted monkfish on pea, bacon and parmesan risotto or roasted vegetable and feta tart two of the hearty, home-cooked dishes here.
