WEST Brewery

This buzzy brewery pub/restaurant occupies the old Winding House of the former Templeton Carpet Factory, one of Glasgow's most unique Victorian buildings, modelled on the Doge's Palace in Venice. WEST is the only brewery in the UK to produce all of its beers according to the German Purity Law, which means they are free from artificial additives, colourings and preservatives. Look down into the brewhouse from the beer hall and watch the brewers making the lagers and wheat beers, including St Mungo, Dunkel, Munich and Hefeweizen, with equipment imported from Germany. Brewery tours are conducted on selected days of the week. The all-day menu offers German dishes like Wiener schnitzel, spätzle (Bavarian noodles with caramelised onions and melted cheese) and Nuremberg sausages served with sauerkraut. Grills, burgers and British pub grub also feature. For dessert is the adults-only Hefeweizen ice cream, made by hand and infused with their award-winning wheat beer. Brunch is available at weekends. Look out for the Oktoberfest beer festival.
