Church Lane, GAWSWORTH, SK11 9RJ
Part farmhouse, part pub, the little-changed interior comprises a main bar serving Robinsons real ales and quirky rooms with open fires and rustic furnishings. Memorable for its impression of timelessness, it dates from 1664 and has been licensed since 1710. On offer is good pub food made extensively from the wealth of local produce, so expect home-made pies; rib-eye, sirloin and gammon steaks; fish and chips; vegetarian dishes; hot sandwiches; plus daily specials and Sunday roasts. Early October sees the annual conker championship here.
