The White Hart

Brook Lane, FLITTON, MK45 5EJ

The 13th-century church of St John The Baptist stands on elevated ground right opposite this mostly early 18th-century village pub. Its first beer licence was issued in 1822; today's beers come from the B&T brewery in nearby Shefford. Fresh fish and shellfish are the big thing here, so big in fact that an April shellfish festival has become a calendar fixture. Arctic char, turbot, Dover sole and gilt-head bream dishes all feature on a menu that champions Aberdeen Angus steaks and other meats from the local family butcher. Light snacks include salads of warm Cajun spiced chicken, and goats' cheese with apple and walnut dressing.
