The Palmer Arms

Village Road, DORNEY, nr Eton, SL4 6QW

Engaging chickens take dust baths in the suntrap garden of this family-friendly community pub in pretty Dorney, just a short stroll from the Thames Path and Boveney Lock. Its 15th-century origins are disguised behind contemporary décor and furnishings, with winter open fires adding atmosphere, whilst a thoroughly modern menu adds spice: crispy chilli beef salad may precede a main of pan-fried duck breast with creamy mash, pak choi, cherry and port sauce, or slow-roasted belly pork with dauphinoise potatoes, spinach, apple purée and red wine jus. A summer beer festival features local beers and ciders.
