The Tilbury

A well selected wine list, real ales and a list of over 30 bottled beers are a nice introduction to this once-tired old village boozer, now turned into a notable dining pub by TV chef Paul Bloxham. Bare brick walls, wooden floors and interesting art suit the mood for the simply cooked, seasonally inspired modern British food. The fixed-price market menu represents special value, offering the likes of mini bouillabaisse with rouille and sourdough crisp, followed by chargrilled mutton koftas with couscous, pickled red cabbage and tzatziki. Desserts may include chocolate pot with shortbread.
