The Griffin

64 Main Road, DANBURY, CM3 4DH

A 400-year-old hostelry on the hill in the middle of the village. The attractive black and white timber-framed exterior is an introduction to the wealth of scrubbed beams inside, some of which are reputed to have been sourced when the nearby church was under construction. This pub ticks all the gastro-chic boxes, with Adnams ales on tap and a menu embracing most crowd pleasers. Sharing boards, starters of moules marinière, and stone-baked pizzas are all here. Specials may proffer a poached fillet of turbot stuffed with prawn mousse, and rich chocolate truffle tart for dessert.
