Red Lion Inn

Low Causeway, CULROSS, KY12 8HN

Culross is the most complete example in Scotland of a 17th- and 18th-century burgh, its old, whitewashed buildings and cobbled streets a fascinating time-warp. The step-gabled Red Lion's ceilings were painted by Stirling artist Douglas Cadoo and depict scenes from Kidnapped by Robert Louis Stevenson. If you're planning on a meal, haggis, whisky and cream creggans make a good starter; these could be followed by grated cheese and pineapple salad; battered haddock and chips; rotisserie chicken in barbecue sauce; or maybe veggie sausages with beans and chips. A sorbet or a crumble might well tick the dessert box.
