Just ten miles from Cardiff, this smart dining pub and farm shop is tucked away down winding country lanes. Inside the whitewashed building, you'll find an appealing bar and dining area, and fine countryside views from the heated patio and terrace. There's much more here than the excellent ales from Felinfoel Brewery and the award-winning wine list. The pub has its own beehives and makes its own honey; the vegetables, herbs and salads from its own gardens are used in the kitchen, and there's an in-house smokery. The inn prides itself on the vast selection of fresh fish, seafood, meat and game displayed on shaven ice. Fresh seafood is an undoubted strength, with deliveries taken twice daily. Start with fish soup with crab and lemongrass before moving on to fresh lobster or lemon sole. Carnivores can choose from mountain lamb, plus Carmarthenshire Welsh beef and venison from the Brecon Beacons.
