The Black Horse Inn
CRANHAM,
Gloucester,
GL4 8HP
Near the Cotswold Way and the Benedictine Prinknash Abbey, in a small village surrounded by woodland and commons, this inn is popular with walkers, the cricket team and visiting Morris dancers. Mostly home-cooked traditional pub food includes cottage pie; roast pork, beef or turkey; kleftiko (half-shoulder of slow-cooked lamb in red wine, lemon and herbs); haggis and bacon; and roast vegetable, cranberry and goat's cheese nut roast. Among the real ales are Butcombe, Doom Bar and Otter, and there are good ciders too in the cosy, open-fire-warmed bar.

Charming pub in beautiful location away from the beaten track. We visited on the basis of the rave reviews we read on line and were not disappointed at all. Superb food, by far the best pub grub I've ever had - highly recommended
