The Italian Farmhouse

New landlord Mark Hird now runs what used to be the Clarence Villa. It remains the home of Sonnet 43 Brewhouse, named for "How do I love thee?", the famous poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, who was born locally in 1806. The brewery's full range of craft beers is served in the bar, as is familiar pub grub such as meat, fish and vegetable 'planks'; burgers and pizzas; beer-battered cod and chips; chicken, leek and mushroom pie; and honey- and bourbon-glazed pork belly. The menu recommends Sonnet 43's Bourbon Milk Stout as an accompaniment to profiteroles, tiramisł and other puddings.
