The White Oak

The Pound, COOKHAM, SL6 9QE

After a spell in London, Henry and Katherine Cripps returned to their roots to transform and run what is now a successful, contemporary village pub and restaurant. Diners can tuck into award-winning, daily changing, modern British dishes, so perhaps start with celeriac and blue cheese soup and gorgonzola sippet; or gin and tonic salmon, lime, cucumber, sorrel and caper berries; then roast Cornish cod, samphire, charred cucumber and lemongrass. To finish perhaps, set milk chocolate, honey brittle and hazelnut crumb; or carrot cake, walnuts, sweet pickled sultanas and cream cheese.
