White Horse Inn

This 400-year-old pub is the last survivor of five originally to be found in this lovely hillside village, probably because it was the centre of the local gold-mining industry in the 19th century. Today, the White Horse is popular with walkers, cyclists and horse-riders. Food here is home made by the landlord's wife using the best quality local ingredients, and is accompanied by a good range of real ales. A typical meal might start with garlic and ginger breaded prawns with curry mayonnaise, followed by home-made steak and kidney pie or, for a vegetarian option, three-bean smokey chilli served with basmati rice.
