The Estop family have been here for over three decades, landlord Maurice being only the fourth licensee in 150 years. The inn's old-world charm includes inglenook fireplaces and a brick alcove once the farmhouse oven. Real ales include Dorset Jurassic and guests, with draught ciders too. Son and head chef Matthew Estop makes much of locally caught fish and seafood (especially evident on the summer menu) - hake, Dover sole, black bream, gurnard, mussels and crab - as well as local meats, in the restaurant and the carvery. Blue Vinny cheese soup is a popular, long-standing fixture. Don't expect a wine list, because customers can browse for the right bottle in the 'Wine Shack'.
