At the heart of the Isle of Purbeck, views from the grassy garden of this part-thatched village inn stretch across the Corfe Valley towards lofty Swyre Head, whilst the mellow ruins of Corfe Castle are an easy walk away. Dressed stone walls and an open fire feature in the lofty, convivial bar, where Dorset Beers from Weymouth are a favoured tipple; locally-made elderflower bubbly also features and there's a great walk-in wine cellar. The freshest home-cooked food includes catch of the day from local boats, or perhaps Poacher's casserole will tempt; smaller appetites may snack on Dorset Blue Vinny soup, laced with wine and cream.
