On the outskirts of the village overlooking open farmland and woods, this pub draws everyone from cyclists and walkers to real ale enthusiasts. Dating from 1818, it originally refreshed local woodsmen and coach drivers visiting the farrier next door. Today's more modern menu is likely to include Cornish crab rarebit; wood pigeon, pork and herb terrine; confit of duck leg; a variety of pies (maybe venison or lamb and potato); and roast pepper, leek and shallot risotto.
