Ye Olde Nags Head

Cross Street, CASTLETON, S33 8WH

Situated in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District National Park, close to Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, this traditional 17th-century coaching inn continues to welcome thirsty travellers. Miles of wonderful walks and country lanes favoured by cyclists bring visitors seeking a warm welcome and refreshment in the cosy bars warmed by open fires. A recent refurbishment successfully mixes the contemporary with the traditional, a theme also reflected in the menu: expect the likes of bangers and mash pick 'n' mix and giant Yorkies - Yorkshire puddings filled with the likes of game casserole.

Fantastic food in a beautiful setting! Loved the décor, really modern with a traditional twist. A breath off fresh air compared to some of the usual stuffiness you can get in old places. Food was great, would definitely recommend. Didn't know at the time that they have rooms but asked to look at one and I'm definitely going to go back and stay! Excellent all round, shame no garden but made up for it everywhere else.

a traditional pub with amazing rooms far from what i ever expected.with open log fires throughout the food and service was good and probably better than 3 star hotels i have stayed in.A full and tradional english menu pays complement to this warm welcoming inn.dogs were welcome with walkers in the bar and a free tipple for a thirsty dog was readily available.all rooms ensuite just made the stay more pleasurable.A warm welcoming place, friendly staff with tradional values
