A popular stop after visiting Carshalton Ponds, this is very much a family-friendly pub. A beer festival is held every June; at other times there are always five ales on the go, including Timothy Taylor Landlord. Menus of rustic comfort food with European influences use the freshest, seasonal, free-range and organic produce: a meal could take in crispy belly pork with black pudding, pickled cauliflower and smoked apple chutney; pan-fried sea trout with celeriac rösti, creamed leek and Savoy cabbage; and lemon tart with clotted cream. Look out for wine and cheese specials on Thursdays and the supper club set menu on Wednesdays.
