BURTON, Chippenham, SN14 7LT
This ivy-clad, stone built free house dates from the early 19th century and is one of two run by the Warburton family (the other is The Northey Arms in Box). Dad David has been here for years and still happily pulls pints of Maiden Voyage, Wadworth 6X and Thatchers Gold in the low-beamed bar. The finest seasonal ingredients are used to create impressive menu favourites like venison casserole; peppered smoked haddock pilaf; lasagne verdi or home cooked, honey-glazed ham. The beautifully landscaped gardens feature a waterfall. Six high quality bedrooms are available in a stylish annexe.
