The Bull

BROUGHTON, Skipton, BD23 3AE

The Bull is part of the historic Broughton Estate, 3,000 acres of prime Yorkshire parkland and countryside, owned by the Tempests for nine centuries. Their family seat, Broughton Hall, is close by. While essentially a dining pub, The Bull still loves to see beer drinkers, as its good selection of real ales proves - Dark Horse, Moorhouses and Thwaites - and a real cider line-up of Ampleforth Abbey, Fanny's Bramble and Pure North. With an AA Rosette to their credit, the chefs rely on carefully chosen local producers for modern English dishes such as seafood, game or ham sharing platters; Lancashire hotpot; Herdwick mutton with black pea suet pudding and bubble-and-squeak; North Sea fish pie; a range of chargrills; and Wensleydale cheese and onion pie. A comprehensive gluten-free menu includes battered line-caught haddock with marrowfat peas and dripping-fried chips.
