Very much a food pub, The Ginger Pig puts a lot of emphasis on seasonality and has a strong reputation for game and local sea food. The monthly-changing menu might offer starters including crispy lamb belly with braised chickpeas; or grilled octopus with hot Nduja sausage and Grelot onion; while for a main course you could have hogget hot pot, Brussels sprout tops and anchovy butter; whole lemon sole with salt-baked kohl rabi, grapefruit dressing and tarragon; or pork roast fillet with lardo di Colonnata, black pudding, celeriac purée, rhubarb chutney and mustard greens. Follow that with roast pineapple with black sesame ice cream perhaps. There's a grand old bar at the front serving great cocktails and well-kept local ales, like Bedlam, Brighton Bier or Dark Star.
