The Samuel Fox Country Inn

Stretfield Road, BRADWELL, Hope Valley, S33 9JT

In the heart of the Peak District National Park and handy for the Pennine Way, this village inn is named after the local man credited with inventing the steel-ribbed umbrella - hence the pub sign showing a fox sheltering beneath one. Owner and experienced chef, James Duckett ensures that there's a warm welcome and pleasant atmosphere for villagers and visitors alike. Contemporary notes creep into the food, which is firmly based on fresh local produce. Expect the likes of goats' cheese and potato terrine with pickled beets; spiced cod fillet, chickpea curry, spinach and sweet potato; and slow-roasted belly pork, cauliflower, celeriac and red wine sauce.
