The Strines Inn

Bradfield Dale, BRADFIELD, Sheffield, S6 6JE

Although built as a manor house in 1275, most of the structure is 16th century; it has been an inn since 1771 - the public rooms contain artefacts from its bygone days. The name apparently means 'meeting of waters' in Old English. Locally brewed Acorn Yorkshire Pride shares bar space with ambassadors from the further-flung Marston's, Jennings and Wychwood. Traditional home-made food includes sandwiches, salads, jacket potatoes, hot paninis and burgers then there's pie of the day; giant Yorkshire puddings; liver and onions; butter bean stew; and the 'mammoth' mixed grill. One of the desserts could be their Mars Bar cheesecake A play area and an enclosure for peacocks, geese and chickens are outside.
