Owned and run by the Greenstock brothers since 2005, this Cotswold stone pub is both a serious dining destination and a friendly place for a drink. The handsome Grade II listed Georgian building combines a contemporary feel with plenty of original period features. The beer selection mixes local brews such as Cotswold Wheat Beer and guest ales, and over 20 carefully selected wines are served by the glass. The blackboard menu changes daily, providing plenty of appeal for even the most regular of diners. With committed local suppliers backed up by the pub's own vegetable patch, the kitchen has plenty of good produce to work with. A typical menu might feature Dexter beef, ale and mustard pie or pan-fried local pigeon breasts, creamed celeriac purée, chorizo and thyme; and puds such as banana and pecan sponge pudding. In summer, head for the mature garden with its panoramic hilltop views.
