The Willow Tree

29 High Street, BOURN, CB23 2SQ

A certain chemistry is at work in this village pub just off Ermine Street, the old Roman road from London to York. Head chef Craig Galvin-Scott, you see, is married to front-of-house manager, Shaina, and after they bought it in late 2012 they set about creating the shabby-chic (their word) interior, with a candlelit restaurant and bar. It soon began attracting attention. Seasonal menus feature lamb rump with braised Savoy cabbage, cream and bacon; sea bass with Jerusalem artichoke; and roulade with chard, ricotta and root vegetable. In the garden stands a graceful willow tree from which the inn takes its name.
