Adorned with summer flower baskets and troughs, this Victorian spirit merchant's inn sports a fine beamed interior, whilst the stunning coastal location beside Bembridge Ledge means the raised deck and patio is the place to sup Wight-brewed Goddard's Fuggle-Dee-Dum bitter, idly watching yachts and fishing boats. Locally caught seafood is one of the pub's great attractions, with dishes such whole lobster, chilli penne with prawns, battered calamari, and home-made crab cakes. There are meat and vegetarian dishes too, and sandwiches at lunchtime. Some of the light and airy bedrooms have memorable sea views.

Wow, at last a pub that serves top quality food, and a chef who knows how to cook a rare steak. We had a great meal and all the staff were freindly and helpful. Weather did not allow us to eat outside but will return when warmer for the views from the garden.
