107 Barnston Road, BARNSTON, Wirral, CH61 1BW
In the quaint village of Barnston can be found the Fox and Hounds. Built in 1911, the pub's Edwardian character is preserved in its leaded windows, pitch-pine woodwork and open fire. In the Snug, the original bar, are impressive collections of bric-à-brac including 200 horse brasses, 30 brewery clocks and 66 flying ducks. A good variety of real ales includes Theakston and Timothy Taylor; a huge range of malts appeals to whisky aficionados; and Rosie's Llandegla cider is made over the border in North Wales. The frequently-changing menu always includes favourites such as steak pie, curries, sausages and mash, and cottage pie, along with sharing plates, lighter bites, toasted paninis and open sandwiches. Traditional Sunday roasts showcase Welsh lamb and beef.
