The Thatched Tavern
Description
Just a mile from the racecourse, a 17th-century building of original beams, flagstone floors and very low ceilings. In summer the sheltered garden makes a fine spot to enjoy real ales and varied choice of food. In the same safe hands for over ten years, the kitchen produces dishes like pan-fried chicken breast with cheddar mash, black pudding, Muscat and thyme sauce, seared calves' liver on bubble and squeak and steak and kidney pudding with mustard mash.
