Bulls Head Inn

This 18th-century coaching inn is handy for the Peak District, and Alton Towers theme park, which is less than a mile away. Oak beams and an inglenook fireplace set the scene for the old-world bar, where a rotating selection of real ales from three handpumps, and Addlestones cider are on offer. In the country-style dining room with its pine furniture and slate floor, the evening menu might include smoked salmon and pesto tagliatelle; oven-roasted lemon and thyme chicken leg; vegetable fajitas; pan-fried sea bass with stirfried noodles; and curry or pie of the day.
