AA tells Labour Party Conference that cars are here to stay
Cars will remain the main form of personal transport for years to come despite the increasing cost of oil and environmental concerns, according to the AA President speaking at a fringe meeting at the Labour Party Conference in Manchester.(September 2010)

The AA is a supporter of 'Start', a national initiative by The Prince's Charities Foundation to promote and celebrate sustainable living and to help people across the UK take clear, positive and practical steps towards a better future. (July 2010)

'Green Smokescreens'- AA warns councils over use of CO2 based parking charges
Councils should not use 'environmental polices' to try to make more money out of motorists, the AA president warned at a conference of the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership at Twickenham Stadium this week. The warning comes as Richmond Council in London has done a u-turn to scrap their parking scheme which forced owners of larger family cars to pay up to four times more than other motorists. Used car labelling- Launch of used car fuel economy label
Colour-coded fuel economy labels have been a feature of new car show rooms since 2005. They will soon be seen on used cars too. The label provides consumers with clear 'at a glance' information on the running costs, fuel consumption and environmental performance of used cars available from participating dealers. Fuel for thought- 20 mph roads pump up CO2 emissions by 10%
Cutting the speed limit from 30 mph to 20 mph on the wrong roads can pump up CO2 emissions by more than 10 per cent, AA research has discovered. The UK's leading motoring organisation is now warning local authorities that some well-intentioned safety schemes may backfire in environmental terms. (January 2008)
