Preston-based AA AutoWindshields is undergoing a nationwide recruitment drive, which will also increase numbers at its Fulwood head office.

The firm, formerly known as just AutoWindshields, was acquired by the AA in December 2009, and now the UK's biggest motoring organisation plans to turn it into one of the country's leading glass repair and replacement services.

There is an initial 25 vacancies for windscreen technicians spread across the country with a plan to grow the business from 120 to 175 technicians nationally by end of October and then to 300 by April next year.

Comment

Steve Dewey, AA road operations director, says: "Our expertise is in operating field-based services, so a mobile glass repair and replacement business was a good fit, as well as allowing us to provide an additional service to our members and the wider public.

There is an initial 25 vacancies for windscreen technicians spread across the country "AutoWindshields was a successful business but, given its scale, operated mainly in the North-west. We have ambitious plans to expand it nationally by growing the number of technicians. To support this, we'll need to increase the headcount of 50 at the Fulwood head office, so we'll be looking for larger premises soon too."

Recruitment

Dewey continues: "Our plans mean we're keen to get the technicians in place as soon as possible. While previous experience of automotive glass replacement is advantageous, we'd also welcome applications from people with the enthusiasm and customer-driven attitude, as comprehensive training is provided."

The expansion comes at a time when the AA is undergoing a wider recruitment drive for more than 200 patrols and technicians to be in place in time for winter.

Anyone interested in applying or wanting more details should visit the AA's careers website.
