February is the best time to see seasonal snowdrops, as one of the first bulbs to bloom brightens up the wintry British landscape.

Celebrate the first sign of spring and see the carpets of snowdrops that appear at this time of year at many woodlands, parks and gardens around the UK.

There are far too many to feature them all but here's a selection of places that are due to open for snowdrop weekends this year...

Chirk Castle Chirk Castle, Wrexham, Wales
See spectacular snowdrops in the castle's award-winning gardens, from 19 to

Dudmaston Estate, Shropshire
Snowdrop walks are due to take place on 5, 6, 12 and 13 February from midday. Last admission is at 4pm. Call 01746 780866 for more details.

Walsingham Estate, Norfolk
The Abbey grounds boast a spectacular display of snowdrops and are open for walks from 10am to 4pm every day during snowdrop season. Call 01328 820259 for details.

Finlaystone Country Estate Finlaystone Country Estate, Renfrewshire, Scotland
Join the ranger for an hour's snowdrop stroll every Sunday in February at 2pm. Or go along to the Lantern Lit Snowdrop Trail on Saturday 19 February at 7pm. Call 01475 540505 for more details.

Painswick Rococo Garden, Gloucestershire
The beautiful Cotswold garden is known for its wonderful springtime snowdrop displays, and also boasts ponds, a maze, a kitchen garden and more. Call 01452 813204 for details.

Heale Gardens, Wiltshire
Snowdrops can be found in abundance here in February and the gardens are open from 10am to 5pm, from Wednesday to Sunday, from 1 February; or visit for the Snowdrop Sundays on 13 and 20 February. Call 01722 782504 for more details.

Attingham Park Attingham Park, Shropshire
See the snowdrops by candelight from Friday 11
to Monday 14 February; or visit for a guided walk

Anglesey Abbey, Cambridgeshire

Waterperry Gardens, Oxfordshire
Witness a carpet of snowdrops on the riverside walk and in the old orchard throughout February. Visit for Snowdrop Weekend on 19 and 20 February and receive a free garden tour. Call 01844 339254 for details.

Chelsea Physic Garden, London
