The V&A is the world's greatest museum of art and design. It was established in 1852 to make important works of art available to all, and also to inspire British designers and manufacturers. The Museum's rich and diverse collections span over three thousand years of human creativity from many parts of the world, and include ceramics, furniture, fashion, glass, jewellery, metalwork, sculpture, textiles and paintings. Highlights include the British Galleries 1500-1900, the Jameel Gallery of Islamic Art, the enormous Cast Courts, and the magnificent John Madejski Garden.
