Holst Birthplace Museum

4 Clarence Rd, CHELTENHAM, GL52 2AY

Write a review

One of Cheltenham's famous sons is the composer Gustav Holst, best known for The Planets Suite. Holst was born in Cheltenham in 1874. The house in Clarence Road where he grew up is now a museum dedicated, in part, to the life of the composer, and in part to an evocation of life in the Regency and Victorian city. There's a Gustav Holst Way medium-distance trail in the north Cotswolds too, which calls in at places relevant to his life.
