What to do after you apply
After you have completed your AA Euro or Worldwide (Sterling) Travel Currency Prepaid Mastercard® card application you will receive a confirmation email or letter. Here are the steps to follow before you can use your card.
We may ask you to provide additional proof of identity, as all financial providers are required to do this to help avoid fraudulent applications. If we need to ask for additional proof of identity it may take a few extra days to get your card. Please scan and send two of the following documents to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
After we receive your documents, we'll contact you to confirm your registration.
We'll send your currency card by post, to arrive within seven days of your application.
Have your card handy.
Retrieve your PIN number from our online services: go to the travel currency card log-in page, and log in to the travel currency online services.
Retrieve your PIN number by phone: call 0845 872 0822 and follow the automated telephone instructions. You can ask for your PIN number to be repeated as many times as you need to ensure that you hear it correctly.
You should now load money on to your card. There are several options available, but we recommend that you link your travel currency account to your personal bank account and do a bank transfer. This is free, and you can load up to £2,000 in one transaction.
If your bank uses faster payments funds will be available on the next working day. Otherwise it can take up to three working days.
Follow these steps to link your travel currency card to your bank account. You will only need to do this once, and then you will be able to top up the money on your travel card easily when ever you want to.
Log in to the online servicing facility of your own personal bank account. Follow the instructions to set up a new payee. This is the information you will need to do this.
Where applicable, if your first load was over £100, the £9.95 fee that you paid when you took out the card will be refunded to you. The refund will appear as a credit on your travel currency card once you have loaded money on to your card for the first time.
You are now ready to use your card. You can use it anywhere you see a MasterCard® Acceptance Mark, or use it in an ATM machine to withdraw cash. When you withdraw cash, you will be charged a £1.50 fee. However, if your withdrawal is over £50/€50, the £1.50 fee will be refunded on to your card (within two working days).
