The new Zafira put in a sound all-round performance worthy of the five star adult occupant protection rating. The body shell proved to be extremely strong suffering minimal deformation in the frontal impact and providing good levels of protection for the adult occupants in the frontal and side impact tests. The restraint systems include dual stage frontal airbags, front safety belts with pre-tensioners and load limiters. An intelligent seat belt reminder system is fitted for the driver. The child protection offered by the car was reasonably good. The level of protection offered to pedestrians and other vulnerable road users was reasonable.
