The Corolla showed a well balanced safety performance in these tests. The body shell was not breached and had only minor deformation after the frontal impact. The side impact protection was reasonable and was achieved without the use of a thorax protecting airbag. The protection from the child restraints was not good with the three year old not protected in the frontal test and the 18 month old protected in neither However the pedestrian protection was better than average.
