The knee airbag protected the driver's knees and femurs in the frontal test. Toyota presented information to EuroNCAP that showed that the airbag would also protect occupants of different sizes sat in a variety of driving positions. The Auris scored maximum points in the side impact and pole tests. In the pedestrian tests the protection offered to pedestrians' legs by the bumper was rated as predominantly fair, as was the adult head protection provided by the bonnet. However, the front edge of the bonnet scored no points.
