Proton claim that the Impian is the first of the new Proton cars designed for Euro NCAP style safety. It is only sold in Europe as a RHD car. It is judged to be a three star car with particular weaknesses in frontal impact. This is a disappointing performance for a new car model. The body shell is unstable and there is substantial risk of injury in all body regions other than the head and neck. The child restraints did not perform well and showed that these had not been developed in conjunction with the car.
