Compare with other cars in the Executive Car category
The new E-Class has a car body that is extremely stable and provides good protection for occupants. The chest loads were on the high side despite the fitment of dual stage load limiters to the seat belts. The child protection is of a high order with the child restraints meeting almost all of the Euro NCAP performance limits. However the pedestrian protection is very poor and this aspect of safety protection still needs to be taken seriously by Mercedes. The E Class has an intelligent seat belt reminder system for both the driver and front seat passenger. During the initial pole test the deploying head curtain airbag interacted with the door pillar trim. However Mercedes have corrected this problem and they were allowed to retest the modified car.
