In the frontal impact the steering column moved horizontally forwards, creating more space for the driver. A large knee airbag protected the driver's knees and femurs. Land Rover were able to show that the airbag would also protect larger and smaller occupants sat in different seating positions. In the side impact test the car lost part of a point for chest protection though it scored maximum points in the pole test. The car scored no points for the protection offered to pedestrians by either the bumper or the front edge of the bonnet. The protection offered to the heads of child and adult pedestrians was also rated as predominantly poor.
