The new Focus body is a strong performing car and was awarded the five star rating for occupant protection. The stable passenger cell provides good protection for all of the occupants; the car achieved almost a full score in the frontal and side impact and the maximum points sscore in the pole test. The restraint systems include dual frontal airbags, front safety belt pre-tensioners and load limiters, side airbags and a head airbag curtain. An intelligent seat belt reminder system is fitted for both the driver and the front seat passenger. The child protection was very good and the protection for pedestrians was reasonably good.
