Compare with other cars in the Small Family Car category

The 1 Series has a very strong and stable passenger safety cage but it did not achieve the highest 5 star rating which is disappointing for a new car model. High loads were recorded by the driverís chest instrumentation in the frontal impact. Side impact protection was better. An intelligent seat belt reminder caters for the driver and front passenger. Child protection for both children was only fair. Like the 5 Series, pedestrian protection for the 1 Series was dire.
