Terms and conditions for travel services

Travel services terms and conditions

Take some time to read this page before using our travel services, including Routeplanner, Maps and AA Roadwatch ('the Services') on the AA website or AA Apps.

By using the Services you accept these terms and conditions. If there are any differences between these and the website terms and conditions, then the terms below will apply.

We may change these terms and conditions in the future, so make sure you check them when you next use the Services.

They were last updated in May 2018.

Using the services

Always stop your vehicle, and make sure it’s parked legally and safely while using the Services on your mobile phone. Don’t use AA routes in a way that affects the control of your vehicle, or puts yourself or others in danger.

If you’re using the Services while driving, always use a hands-free device.

There’s no representation made or guarantee given, for the content or usability of the directions. TheAA.com, AA app and their suppliers assume no responsibility for any loss or delay caused by using these directions.

While the AA has taken care to give accurate information in the Services, they are provided on an 'as is' basis. As much as is allowed by law, the AA or its licensors or suppliers don't accept any liability due to inaccuracies, omissions or delays in the information or transmission of messages.

Use of personal information

The AA privacy notice applies to the use of the Services. Take time to read the website terms and conditions, cookie policy, and app terms and conditions.

Google Maps

Users of Route Planner and Traffic information from the AA are bound by the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service (including the Google Privacy Policy).

Intellectual Property

Copyright, trademarks, database rights and all other intellectual property rights in the content of all information provided to you belongs to the Automobile Association ('AA'), or its licensors or suppliers. All rights are reserved. Unless expressly permitted, no material may be copied, recorded, stored in a retrieval system, reproduced or transmitted in any form or by any means, without prior written permission of the AA.

Private non-commercial usage

The Services can only be used for private, personal, non-commercial use, and must not be copied, sublicensed, reproduced, or otherwise transmitted or dealt with whatsoever. Any commercial or business use of the Services or data contained within them is strictly prohibited unless agreed and licensed by the AA. Contact us about any proposed commercial or business use of the Services.

Copyright notices

All map images served from www.theaa.com are copyright material. A maximum of 10 copies can be printed of any one transaction, and these can't be larger than A4 (625 sq cm) in size.

We won’t be liable if you can’t access or use the website due to failure of any machine, data processing system or transmission link, any period of essential maintenance, critical change, repairs, alteration to or failure of computer systems, any industrial dispute, or anything beyond our reasonable control or that of our agents or subcontractors.

We may, at our discretion, withdraw all or any part of the Services at any time and without prior notice. We shall be under no liability to you whatsoever, in the event that the Services are withdrawn.

The Services are provided on an 'as is' basis. The AA, or its licensors or suppliers, don’t make any warranty or representation of any kind whether express or implied including any implied warranties as to satisfactory quality, fitness for purpose, non-infringement, compatibility, security and accuracy.

In no event will the AA be liable whether in contract or tort (including negligence or breach of statutory duty or otherwise), for any losses sustained and arising out of or in connection with the use of the Services, including loss of profits, loss of data, economic loss, loss of business and loss of goodwill (in all these cases, whether direct or indirect) nor any indirect or consequential or special loss or damage.

Nothing in these terms and conditions shall exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or any other liability that can’t be excluded or limited by law.

Law and jurisdiction

The service is subject to the laws of England and Wales, and in the case of a dispute the Courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland, the laws of Scotland shall apply and the Courts of Scotland shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
