Theatre, food and shopping
Billy Elliot, the Phantom of the Opera, Mama Mia... They've all graced the stages of the London's Theatreland district and there's so much more besides. For silver screen fans there are many cinemas too – from the highly regarded (and very comfy) Curzon on Shaftesbury Avenue to the Empire and Odeon on Leicester Square – both sights of many a celebrity hotfooting it into the latest premiere.
W1's food offerings are not to be sniffed at – Chinatown offers a plethora of restaurants – as does Soho. If it's 5-Rosette fine dining you're after then look no further than Hélène Darroze at The Connaught, Pollen Street Social or Sketch (Lecture Room and Library).
Oxford Street and Regent Street are the places to go for the pure thrill of shopping and once you're done you can sit back and relax with a show or two – did we mention the theatres?
