Ancient history…
Part of the historic county of Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire has much to offer the discerning visitor. Evidence of early settlement in East Renfrewshire can be seen in ancient hillforts, pre-Roman settlement and an iron-age fort.
…and active landscapes
Reservoirs, moorland and town parks provide the perfect getaway for those wanting to get active in the great outdoors and experience East Renfrewshire’s nature up close. Take to one of the mountain bike trails, go for a walk around Rouken Glen Park or make time for a round of golf. You’ll find a patchwork of landscapes at Dams to Darnley Country Park, which is home to much wildlife.
Lovers of fine architecture should pay a visit to East Renfrewshire’s four grade A-listed buildings: Caldwell House, Uplawmoor; Capelrig House, Newton Mearns; Greenbank House, Clarkston; and Mearns Castle. Furthermore, the village of Eaglesham, a designated Outstanding Conservation Area, gives a fascinating insight into 18th-century village planning.
