Bill Bryson’s favourite resort
If you are looking for an elegant Victorian seaside resort that has it all, look no further than Llandudno.
It’s not just Wales’ largest seaside resort – don’t let the word ‘large’ put you off, by the way – it’s also got a host of attractions. There’s the longest pier in Wales, for instance, and Britain’s only cable-hauled tramway, not to mention the award-winning beaches.
No wonder US travel writer Bill Bryson described it as his ‘favourite seaside resort’. The main appeal is down the beach – the sweeping sandy northern bay is sheltered by the two great limestone promontories of Great Orme and Little Orme.
The town’s popularity has been helped by a growing amount of boutique accommodation, classy dining and big-name retail outlets such as Parc Llandudno.
