A Testing Trail from Stockbridge
User reviews
A pleasant walk. Stockbridge is a lovely village to begin and end the walk in with a couple of good pubs and cafes for that well deserved drink at the end! There were some pretty tricky parts to the walk along the main roads to Danebury and on the homeward stretch which spoilt the walk a little. Danebury is a great palce to sit and picnic and well worth the climb to get to it!

Lovlely walk, great view but didn't enjoy walking with the traffic on the home straight - was really gagging for a drink !

Excellent walk and very scenic - directions were spot on...my only concern was the walk up to the Danebury Hillfort - no good with kids because that stretch of road was very busy with lots of blind bends...no verge to walk on so had to walk on the road itself. Crossing the A30 was a bit hairy scary too! Good walk tho and would do it again.

This is a really lovely walk, covering a variety of different terrains. The directions are clear all the way round. I agree with the comment about the road to the fort but it was still well worth a visit. The pub at Longstock was lovely and I would recommend a short stop in its garden! Highly recommended.

A very good walk with spectacular views. But there are a couple of things to bear in mind. The stile in the hedge on the right at point 2 is overgrown and difficult to spot. If the path opens to the farm on the right you have gone too far, backtrack 30m or so. The short road section to Danebury Hill Fort is very tricky, as the other posters have said. The gradients are mainly gentle but persistent and can be tiring. The 'medium' rating is well deserved.

As previous reviewer - the A30 crossing is somewhat hazardous, nor did I enjoy playing with the traffic on the road past Danebury Hill Fort - very fast with blind corners and no verge!

First two stiles are not large dog friendly - need to pass through field 50 metres before stile and walk along very busy A30. Road to Danesbury Hill fort and along last stretch of walk also busy and dangerous.
