The Silver Cup

This cosy traditional inn, overlooking Harpenden Common, comes attractively decorated to retain much of its original character. The kitchen serves a lengthy, crowd-pleasing repertoire of modern dishes - with a nod to the Mediterranean - driven by fine local produce. Take mushroom, chorizo and roasted-shallot tagliatelle, perhaps chicken stuffed with sun-blush tomatoes and mozzarella and served with garlic-sautéed potatoes and rich tomato sauce, or grilled tuna with saffron rice and roasted peppers, and to finish, a brioche and rum pudding with passionfruit clotted cream.
